MAKE A WISH DAY

Can you guess what we wished for?

Odd Shoe Day helped us with our Maths!
We discovered lots of things about pairs, odds and evens and counting in twos.

We enjoyed watching the builders working on our new playground and now it is ready for us to have fun on!

Tuesday 18 August 2015

Here we are awaiting the start of our Cross Country races.
Congratulations to our placegetters.  All that hard work at fitness time was worth it!

At the end of Term 2 we had a visit from Colleen, a Zero Waste educator.  She spoke to us about reducing the waste in our lunchboxes so that we could have 'litterless lunchboxes'.  On her first visit we counted 110 pieces of paper, plastic wrappers and other types of waste that would be going into our bins at school.  On her second visit we had reduced this number to 75.  This trend continues so well done everyone on your efforts to make our lunchboxes 'litterless'.

Sunday 14 June 2015

One of the highlights of our visit was getting really close to the giraffes!
Our Visit to Hamilton Zoo!
Before we started to walk around the zoo we went into the zoo classroom where Ken talked to us about wetlands.

Did you see our photo in the newsletter?

We had a lot of fun visiting the wetlands.

Room 7 has made an autumn display for the foyer.  It looks very colourful.

We are going to be learning more about wetland areas this term.

Friday 24 April 2015

We are visiting the Field of Remembrance and the flagpole after our school ANZAC Day assembly.

Monday 30 March 2015

Room 7 enjoys the challenge of climbing to the top of the rope playground.

Branell said, "When you get to the top of the rope playground you can see right over the school".

Reeve said, "When you are at the top and someone is at the bottom they look like a little dot".

Jake said, "When you are at the top and people shake the ropes it feels a bit freaky!"

Max said, "When I want to come down I slide down the pole like a fireman".

Saskia said, "You can have races to get to the top".

My goal for the children of Room 7 in their writing and reading learning is to

- express themselves sincerely
-  to want to read books

To help us with this goal we use a programme called 'Daily 5'.

Every day we include these five activities as part of our programme.

1  Read to myself
2  Read to someone
3  Listen to reading
4  Work on writing
5  Word work

Your support at home with these activities is much appreciated!

We look forward to our time at the pool every day.  We are learning skills which will keep us safe in, on and around the water.
